Influencer Ilse Daal: A butterfly and what you see is what you get
Could you share with us some information of your family life?
I was born in Curaçao and I come from a family of 6 children of which I had 2 brothers, one had passed away and 4 sisters. My mother is still alive My self, I would call myself a butterfly. I used to live in a house build in a calabas tree in the garden and my stepfather used to tell me that he would discipline me if he found me in that tree-house. So I always had the tendency to do things my own way. I have 2 children both live in Holland and I now live In Curacao with my signifcant other.
Could you share with us some of your educational background?
I have studied and worked as a nurse and worked in almost all departments that you can imagine in a hospital and a nursing home. Additionally i did a sport massage therapy training and many other massage therapy courses, intuitive therapy, trancedance facilitator, 5 rhytms. Now I am working as a spiritual therapist.
We have heard of you via one of the core members of the Share2Uplift movement, Haydee Hermans, telling me that she was going to follow a course that you were giving and I thought it to be relevant to interview you as it deals with emotions. How would you describe the work that you are doing? And what other services do you offer to your customers?
I offer services as a spiritual therapist. My clients come from all kinds of background, with wide variety of questions about life and problems, spiritual healers that at last meet someone whom can assist them in understanding their spiritual gifts, pregnant women, baby’s, infants..basically everything. My work is called “feeling”. This is so awesome. Journaling for me is a must, as writing down what you experience is not just a therapy but it is therapeutic, just as music and dance are therapeutic. This combined with the feeling of gratitude offers the best results.
Can you expand a little on this one year course you started recently?
I am doing this now for 25 years. I have done it a lot in Holland and I started offering this in Curaçao. As feedback on their experiences, attendees in Holland would write down their feedbacks and I lost this very precious note book while moving back to Curaçao from Holland. It was so beautiful, it is a pitty I lost this note book. As I am a curious person and I am open for new developments, everytime I do one of these courses I also learn a lot of new things. We started this past week-end, 25th and 26th of January, with a new group and during this first session we discussed drawing of boundaries. What will you not accept anymore from others whom are threpassing your private spaces. I have to say some participants became very emotional. I am so passionate about enabling people to be better aware of their emotions, that I could offer this almost for free. The second week the participants will be guided through the different stages of their birth. This is the most exciting part of this year long course. People come out of these sessions as reborn. Myself, I also learn a lot from these sessions:
Like during a session in the past, it became clear to me that this attendee had a twin and he never mentioned it before. It only became clear during the session, as it was supposed to be. I never know exactly what is going to happen. I have also learned to limit the number of people we allow to participate in our groups. This makes it easier to create a safe environment and allows me to go deeper with the attendees. We don’t allow more than 60 people per event. Anyway, the work I am doing fascinates me and as I said these sessions can be eventful. I have learned that there are differences between people living in Holland and people living in Curaçao. People in Holland are more willing and capable to stick to certain changes for the long haul, while here in Curaçao people have less stamina and willingness to go for the long haul.
What might be the reasons?
I believe that in Curaçao our people are more conditioned with strong beliefs.
Your center is called Nos cu Nos, how long does this center exists?
This center would exist 25 years now in November 2020, as we started in 1995.
What is your BIG WHY or driving motivation to be whom you are right now and to do what you are doing right now?
My calling has always been to become a nurse, but then after my near death experience I changed my life’s course and now I am a spiritual therapist and I accompany people that feel that they are stuck in their life and can’t continue to live that way. So my work is based on what I would call an emotional-spiritual basis, I work based on the 4 basic emotions people have, namely: Anger, grief, fear and joy this is basically my work.
When do you consider that you have been successful in your personal and business/professional life, let us say 5 years from now?
Just like I am doing it now and there is always room for improvement of course, but good is good, at least that is what I think.
What are the challenges that you are dealing with? And how are you dealing with these different challenges you confront?
Well I am a spiritual therapist and when people knock on my door the first time, they come and visit me, because they think I can help them, they do this on a voluntary basis. They themselves decide also to change themselves, if not, they will not change.
I feel great and on top of the world, when they tell me: “..Ilse I feel different compared to when I step into your office at first. We didn’t solve all my issues yet, but I can go on with my life for now...” Then my mission is completed. If one day I should wake up and someone would tell me: “..Ilse I am feeling worst then before I came here to visit you and I am not satisfied with what you have offered me, then I would seriously consider to stop doing what I do. Especially if the person repeats this after the second session we have had. Then it is time to quit. Most people have lots of things in their heart and not in their heads, that is bothering them. But I don’t expect this to happen soon.
What was a defining moment for you in your life?
I was pregnant and had an ectopic pregnancy and I was not aware of this. I experienced a near death experience and from that moment on my psychic abilities manifested themselves. So I emerge from a near death experience with a gift, that I am now applying with a lot of passion. My uterine tube broke and causing an inner arterial bleeding. I lost 3,5 liter of blood, a normal person has 5 liter. As I was in the shower I literally heard a knack in my body. During a series of events that followed that moment, from lying in my sister’s bed, calling my neighbor and later my then husband, lying on the couch, first this all happened in the morning, calling the family doctor at 11.30 am, 2 pm, 5 pm, fainting as I wanted to go the toilet and not remembering anything and then hearing the family doctor as I was fainting telling my husband then: “Call an ambulance and I will be waiting for you at the hospital”; hearing the emergency doctor yelling: “Who is her doctor after they saw me coming in”…going to the emergency room till 9 pm, it was a very close call, one extra half an hour and I would be death, but in the end I was successfully operated and when I came back to my senses one of the first persons I saw in tears was my family doctor. She told me she should have come at 5 pm herself …
Anyways while this was happening, I was having a near death experience, I saw myself lying on the ground via an out of body experience, I was in some kind of bright water tunnel and I couldn’t explain to others what I saw and experienced, as I was flushed through this curling water tunnel, until I saw an advertisement on TV where I saw a similar water tunnel and waves that surfers use to surf on but in the advertisement the surfer was on top of the waves and not in the curling water tunnel as I had experienced. I was 42 years old and my life totally changed from that moment onward. My doctor was not able to explain what I had experienced so in the early stages after the operation, I went through a transition in my life.
After the operation
During 6 weeks after the operation I went in and out of the hospital and felt really sick and weak, but most of all, I started to perceive things like trees and objects differently and I had nobody to talk to. Later on, I came to understand that I could now see aura’s and that was very comforting for me, because I had not gone mad, which at times I thought I was. Then came late August, our children their holidays were late that year and we went to a camping and I met this lady at the camping that after we started talking, gave me the number of someone, whom later became my mentor. When we met she told me: “..Welcome to the club..”. I asked which club? She meant people whom are clairvoyant, clairaudient, clairsentients, I had become a physic.
And I was like now I know this, but what to do with this knowledge? I have never heard of this before. After six years of being mentored step by step, as I was getting to experience so many strange things, that I asked to the Universe based on an advice from my mentor, to please ask and tell the Universe, that I can’t bare all these psychic experiences anymore. There was so much going on in my head. I requested to close the window just a little bit and make it just a small window. I don’t want to feel when people are going to die. For example, I talked about the death of teacher of my daugther and beware and behold some weeks later this teacher at the Kindergarten level died for a traffic accident, while she was pregnant. Those insights were disrupting my normal life and it became less after I requested to close the window and I am very grateful for that.
Totally new direction
This total new direction my life took, was something I thought before this operation that it would never happened, like I was also planning a divorce while me and my ex-husband never had any arguments. I just told him one day, we have to separate. He had often before told me that after my first pregnancy I changed and he didn’t recognize me anymore compared with the 20 years before that. So after the divorce I became open for having a new romantic relationship. We have 2 children a daughter whom is now a drama therapist and my son whom his friends call Dr. Phill whom is 35 years old.
I am grateful for what life have offered to me. I never lacked clients. Either as a dancer on TV after I left nursery or as a designer of clothes and dressmaker which I have done for 7 years and later on as a massage therapist, although I never got my degree as a massage therapist because I rocked the boat and went to the police after becoming aware that the teacher was trying to sexually abuse trainees. All of this was happening synchronistically and that is why I am so grateful. Like getting the urge to paint one my rooms in baby blue colors and not understanding why, as I started offering massages and stopped working as a dressmaker. Lots of synchronicities manifested when I was changing my professions.
Do you use your inner voice to evaluate when dilemma’s show up? How does that work for you?
I am wide open and I can, as a physic, connect rather easily so I know what is the best course of action when I face dilemma’s.
How are you trying also to keep up with your personal knowledge and skills levels?
Just doing what I do and learn to do things better every day.
What are your strengths?
I can be very open and direct, I care about people and I am a creative person.
Do you have hobbies or interests that you are also passionate about?
Dancing I have been passionate about this since I was a child about 10 years old and went to “Cocky Van Eps” her dance school, till I went to Holland for my studies and work.
If you as Ilse would meet a stranger in the bus (let say in Holland or the US) and they would ask you to introduce yourself what would you answer?
My name is Ilse Daal and I am a spiritual healer. What you see, is what you get.
How would you describe Ilse in one word or one sentence?
Whom are the persons that have inspired you the most in your career?
A lot of people have inspired me.
What is a personal character trait that is still work in progress?
As we are humans beings, we are not perfect, so I am not perfect and trying still to be my best self.
Where do you want to be 10 years from now with your career?
Doing exactly what I am doing now.
What would you want your Loved Ones, family, friends and others to say about you let’s say 15 years from now on your birthday party?
She has always been a butterfly and what you see is what you get.
What makes you stay optimistic about the future of Curaçao?
It doesn’t matter if we sink, there were always be some people on a dry part of the island and they will be positively working on improvement of their direct environment and that what is within there circle of influence, that is why I am optimistic about the future of Curaçao.

The goal of the core group of Share2Uplift for 2020
The goal of the Share2Uplift movement is now to: “Identify 250 ethical leaders from all walks of life to connect, align and create impactful changes in all walks of life, which includes intergenerational collaboration.” We want to reach our target of 250 Influencers by the end of 2020. We will use interviewing Influencers, meet-and-greet events, “train-the-trainers”-programs on “Emotional Mastery” and “Intentionality “as national intervention strategies, to reach this goal on top of our goal to scale up the possibilities to connect, align and create impact via a virtual platform. We believe that with this virtual platform, we will accelerate the possibilities to connect the diaspora and others elsewhere in the world and on the island willing to constructively create impactful changes in Curaçao, to join. Look at the list of the Influencers we have interviewed or reported on, up to now.
As Share2Uplift we are fully trying to align with this thinking of Center for Curriculum Redesign to promote this agenda in our educational systems and workplace. So, in that sense we fully support any initiative to make our educational system 21st century proof.
Share2Uplift aligners are those that:
– Create an inspiring vision of the future;
– Motivate and inspire people to engage with that vision;
– Manage delivery of the vision;
– Coach and built a team, so that it is more effective at achieving the vision.
These criteria are now being polished.
We also consider these 5 values of the most important ones for Share2Uplift aligners. They are:
• Peace from within;
• Responsibility. As we will progress towards this goal we will update you on the progress.
